Years ago, when my site was at Yahoo! GeoCities, I launched a site ring, which gained a few members before it foundered. Although my neglect was partly responsible for its failure, the inability of members to customize the ring’s panel (below) was the main drag on its development. There was even one prospective member who was unable to see why she had to place the panel somewhere on her website to qualify for membership. So don’t click the “Join” button unless you are willing to make a reasonable effort to maintain the integrity of the ring, which is open to anyone with a site about, or in any way related to, New Zealand/Aotearoa.

Clicking on the “Join” button will take you to nzsitering.com, where you will find a range of New Zealand flags for the sitering panel. You will then be able to choose the one you like — or opt for one of the buttons I have created. The only other way to sign up is by clicking on “List” and then on “Click here to add your site to New Zealand”. But if you go for the latter option, you will not be presented with any choice of flag.
